About Me

I am an older (middle-aged) person with a desire to make contact with others and share things I feel I have learned from life and to, hopefully, help make a difference in their lives, also.

To A Cat

Soft and warm against lap or leg,
Comfort flows to your human friend.
Subtle purring, sweet and true,
Are part of what we will miss
From you.
Constantly giving, though unaware
Of the real meaning for us of having you there.
Too short a life for so much Love
Surely the gift of Heaven; you seemed sent from above.
Beautiful Cat, constructed by a divine whim,
Truly your heart is an echo of Him
Who humanity claims to seek and desire.
If you want to see God, you need look no further
Than what people claim is His creation
but then quickly relagate
To a demeaned life-station.
A Cat's true calling and capacity for love
Reveals them as angels of Heavenly Love.
Despite the moments when weakness wins out
And they tear around wrecking the house,
Or peeing on clothes or scratching the door,
It was a small price to pay for the love you bore
To us dim-witted humans, who in our arrogance pray
That God will look down on this small cat today
Without it occurring to our very small minds
That God would not leave even a small cat behind.
We do not have to ask Him to look or to stay
For God, in His heaven,
Has never once looked away.
Please gather our cat, God,
Into Your loving arms.
She never deserved cruelty or abandoned her charms.
She was always ready for a pet or a purr
To minster love to those with whom
You chose to share her.
